Barbara Heck

BARBARA HICK (Baby) RUCKLE was born in 1734in Ballingrane. She was the daughter of Margaret Embury and Bastian Russell. Bastian Ruckle the father of Margaret Embury and Bastian Ruckle was born in Ballingrane in 1734. She married Paul Heck 1760 in Ireland. The couple had 7 children, of whom 4 were born.

The person who is the subject of the biographies is generally an individual who has had a key role in significant historical events, or who has come up with unique ideas or suggestions which have been recorded in written form. Barbara Heck however left no messages or documents, in fact they are not evidence as the date of her marriage is secondary. No primary source exists that could be utilized to determine Barbara Heck's motives or actions throughout her life. Yet, she's remained one of the most heroic figures in early North American Methodism theology. Biographers must establish the myth and explain its meaning, and identify the character who is portrayed in the story.

The Methodist historian Abel Stevens wrote in 1866. Barbara Heck's modest name is now indisputablely first in the ecclesiastical history of the New World because of the expansion of Methodism. Her record must chiefly consist of the naming of her deserving Name based on the history of the cause which her memory is forever associated more so than from the history of her own life. Barbara Heck's involvement in the starting of Methodism was an unlucky coincidence. Her popularity is due to the fact that it's developed into a normal practice for incredibly successful movements or organizations to praise their historical roots in order to keep ties to the old.
