Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th 1988) is an American actor, singer as well as a dancer. Her initial appearances on Broadway include in the productions Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent her time working with some of the most acclaimed directors and actors across theatre and on television. she is continuing her award-winning project with various upcoming ones. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's upcoming project will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. In March of 2023 Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who created Hamilton, will direct the musical. Ashford's last role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver & raised there.
