April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music as a 7th grader in which she began guitar and piano lessons. In the seventh grade she began to take piano and guitar lessons. The lessons sparked her passion to write songs. She spent a lot of time at 14 composing songs and experimenting with the piano. Then, in the following months, April began to travel with her dad as well as write her songs in NY and LA. April began to include additional relevant subjects into the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with an ever-growing number of followers. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, and is also an expert in the field of lifestyle. She was not born having a left-handed hand, which is the reason she's who she is. But that's far from all the facts. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't cover up her disability, but it does not focus solely on the issue. It's a reminder. The message? We have many different aspects, that our physical and identity bodies aren't what appear. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart in a video interview "I do not believe that disability should define my character. It's not my intention to have an impact on disabilities because I've got many more things to contribute." It doesn't affect my daily life. All is well and I've learned how to make adjustments. This is also part of me, and I believe it should be discussed. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon but Lockhart is a true inspiration for this aspect. However, she acknowledges going through phases with her body at times feeling insecure to wear particular types of clothes that showed the arms of her. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she wants. and she shares her photos on social media. The self-love she talks about is a journey. I'm not sure if you'll ever reach the end. It's a fact that I see with everyone with whatever their insecurity is. It's important to surround yourself with people who can see and know your true heart.
